It is springtime in the Rockies and the plants are in their early vigorous growth. This is a perfect time to harvest some plants for making of ceremonial tobacco.
The natives traditionally replenished their kinnick-kinnick in spring and fall.
Spring is the perfect time to gather plants, as they are expending vigorous energy into new growth.
When you gather plants, remember to show respect and only take to a maximum of 30% of the new growth to allow the plant to survive and grow. Before gathering, give an offering of tobacco in prayer to mother earth as a blessing for the abundance she shares with us.
