One of my readers suggested that the tips for Simple Living that feeds your Soul can feel overwhelming, and too hard! That is exactly what it shouldn’t be. How can we make it easy on ourselves? The start is making one step, then move to the next. Don’t expect to make a 100% change to a different life.
Think of your life as a truck, now put in the back of that pickup truck all the things in your life you want to keep – your partner, your children, your job.
Now imagine you are driving your truck down the highway, but you decide to make a change. If you make a 100% turn in your life, imagine the stuff in your truck, imagine the chaos! and stuff is gonna fall out! are you prepared to make those changes?
Change doesn’t have to be that dramatic. Can you start with achieving something at 50% capacity, or even 10%. Small starts can make dramatic results. Just start with the willingness to look at the pieces of your life you are struggling with.
Start by saying “NO” just once when you are asked to over-commit. Start small, and really put your intention into it – work it big. Work through the feelings that come up from that small shift, breathe through and let them go. Do you feel guilt, obligation, like you are missing out on something? breathe through that, look at the triggers and send them love and intention to shift.
The next step is remembering how powerful you are. What is showing up in your life is what you dreamed of and prayed for in the past; what you focus on grows. If you want a simpler life that looks differently than what is showing up right now, use your power to create something else.
Sit in quiet contemplation and imagine yourself as the eye of the storm and everything around you is swirling while you stay in a peaceful, calm state. Now pick out one thing in that storm and give it a small shift from your peaceful place of power.
Now watch your life shift, and move to the next shift. Do it with powerful intention, but with ease and grace. Simple Living that feeds your Soul can start small, like the shift of a butterfly wing that becomes a tsunami across the world.
